Video Analysis: Uncrowning the King – Nikolai Novosjolov

I’ve been studying Nikolai Novosjolov for quite some time. I love how he fences. He is very athletic, tactical, and controlled. His attacks are incredibly precise and he is never caught off balance. He is a spectacular fencer to watch.

Take a look at the video and let me know what you think. I’m open to all comments and suggestions.

    Great videos, as always!

I see mention of destructive parries, compared to blocking and other kinds of parries. I would like to see a video about how these actions differ from each other, what they’re good for, who uses them, and how to counter them. It would be very interesting and instructive.

    • Destructive parries are very strong blade actions that have the sole intent to shut down whatever your opponent is doing. Usually they are large octave parries. There is no intention to score from them, only to frustrate your opponent.
